Purpose. the aim of the study was to verify the effect of mental fatigue on tactical actions quality and the intensity of covered distance in soccer players. Methods. Six U-15 male soccer players participated in this study (14.7 ± 0.59 years of age). For data collection, the FUtSAt and GPSports® (SPI-HPU) systems were applied. to induce mental fatigue, the Stroop task was used for 20 minutes. the individuals were evaluated in 2 conditions: mental fatigue and control (with and without the Stroop task). Statistical analysis was performed with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, t-test, and Wilcoxon test. Results. the results displayed significant differences in actions related to principles of balance (p = 0.02), defensive unity (p < 0.01), and total defensive actions (p = 0.02), as well as in the covered distance in intensity related to zones 3 (p = 0.03) and 6 (p < 0.01). In mental fatigue, the players revealed a decrease in tactical action quality referring to movements that aimed at numerical stability in relations of opposition and at defending in unity and in block, and covered greater distances in zones 3 and 6. Conclusions. Mental fatigue modified the players' movement dynamics on the pitch with reference to the quality of tactical actions and covered distance intensity.
Fatigue in soccer players is traditionally investigated based on neuromuscular and metabolic factors. However, given that soccer is one of the sports that has the highest cognitive demand, it is believed that players' performance might also be influenced by the high levels of attention, and frequent decision-making required in soccer. This systematic review aimed to verify the effects of mental fatigue on physical, technical, tactical and cognitive performance of soccer players. We searched in the electronic databases Pubmed, Web of Science and Scopus, for articles published up to 30 April 2018. We included articles that used a protocol of mental fatigue through cognitive tasks performed prior to a physical or cognitive task related to soccer. Only studies that presented an experimental design with the control condition (without mental fatigue) and the experimental condition (with mental fatigue) were selected. A total of six articles met the inclusion criteria, one study by backward reference search and other through the authors' indication. The results showed smaller distances covered in physical tests, while the effects of mental fatigue on physical performance in small-sided games were not clear. In technical tests, there were more penalties in passes and less accuracy and speed when kicking the ball when players were in conditions of mental fatigue. Regarding the tactical variables, it was found that mental fatigue had a detrimental effect on the synchronization between team players and on individual tactical performance in defensive actions. In cognitive tests, based on video recordings of game play, negative effects on the players' speed and accuracy of decision-making were observed. According to the results of the literature search, it can be inferred that mental fatigue is a factor that has a negative influence on soccer performance. Level of evidence II; Systematic review.
Rev Bras Educ Fís Esporte, (São Paulo) 2016 Abr-Jun; 30(2):227-34 • 227Intensity and fatigue assesssment of technical-tactical training IntroductionIntensity and fatigue assessment of technical-tactical training caused in u-20 soccer players CDD. 20.ed. 796.073 796.33 http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/1807-55092016000200227Technical, tactical, mental and physiological factors are needed for soccer players achieve optimum levels of performance. According to S et al. 1 is not necessary to be outstanding in a spe c capacity, but it is recommended that athletes have a reasonable level in all of them. e training, as the soccer competitions, induces players to the state of fatigue, which is characterized by transient decrease in functional abilities of the individual evidenced by the maintenance of failure to perform physical valences, such as strength, speed and power 2 . During the occupation of the player, fatigue may occur by several factors, including oxidative or functional stress, which individually or jointly, directly or indirectly, may impose limitations on the physical capacity of the soccer player, compromising the sports performance and may cause injuries 3 . Even associated to the fatigue state amount of muscle glycogen, dehydration, hyperthermia, high blood lactate concentration and high muscle acidity 4 . e need for knowledge regarding the intrinsic fatigue caused an increase in the number of studies that assessed the levels of physical e ort and the physiological demands of soccer players, along with the development of this sport in other aspects [5][6] . Thus, psychological, motor, physiological and biochemical variables have been used as parameters to quantify intensity ratios and fatigue of a stimulus, be it competitive character or training 7 . AbstractSince the current soccer calendar does not provide a timely fashion for proper recovery of athletes, fatigue and recovery have been extensively studied by researchers. What led to the emergence of some instruments for the purpose of provide information and give support to the professionals seeking high performance. The aim of this study was to analyze the intensity of technical-tactical training and fatigue caused in U20 soccer players, through the performance in the lower limbs and session RPE. Players (n = 25) performed the countermovement vertical jump (CMJ) and horizontal (HJ), before and after a technical-tactical training session (TTT), with the intensity being measured by Borg Scale (CR 10). The CMJ did not show signifi cant difference (p > 0.05), whereas HJ was higher in the post-TTT compared to pre-TTT (p = 0.02). As for session RPE, 92% of players rated the intensity of the TTT as easy to moderate. The results of this study indicate that TTT low intensity does not compromise the power in testing vertical and horizontal jump. It is suggested that besides providing an operationalization of tactical patterns of collective behavior, TTT low intensity training can be used in regenerative or character moments in the sports calendar does not enable c...
Aim: The aim of the present study is to assess the effect of relative age on the selection of young athletes and the performance of futsal teams. Methods: The date of birth of 2,676 young athletes (female: n=292; male=2,384) playing in the U-9 to U-20 categories of Brazilian futsal was collected. The athletes were categorized based on quartile and on the semester of birth. The final position of the teams in the tournament was categorized as finalist, semifinalist and non-semifinalist. The chi-square test, the Cramer’s V and multinomial logistic regression models were applied. Results: The data supported the hypothesis about the trend to select athletes who were born in the first months of the year in male teams, but it was not observed in female teams. Additionally, only athletes in the U-13 category who were born in the first semester of the year present 50% chance to be among the finalists in the tournament when they are compared to their peers. Practical application: The relative age had effect on the team of young male athletes, but such an effect was not associated with the positive performance of futsal teams, except for the U-13 category. Thus, coaches of young athletes are recommended to value other factors at the time to select and compose their teams within the herein assessed context.
