2007) Microsatellite analysis for revealing parentage of gamma ray-induced mutants in rice (Oryza sativa L.), Israel Journal of Plant Sciences, 55:2, 201-206To link to this article: http://dx. AbstrActWe previously demonstrated that mutants induced from pure lines with quality assurance had microsatellite (or simple sequence repeat, SSR) genotypes almost identical to their parent varieties, and genetic variants derived from accidental out-crossing might be selected as "mutants" in rice. In the present study, fourteen previously developed rice mutant lines were analyzed for their SSR genotypes in parallel with their respective parents. Among them, eleven mutant lines had SSR genotypes identical to their parents; however, three mutant lines, i.e., Os-lpa-XS110-1, Huangyu B, and Zhu I, had 4.3, 6.6, and 9.1% of SSRs different from their parents, respectively. Additional analysis proved that Huangyu B was mistakenly recorded in the development process and should be a mutant line of another variety, II 32 B; Zhu I very probably resulted from an out-crossing rather than from mutagenesis. The implications of our findings are discussed in the context of induced mutantfacilitated gene discovery.
Objective To explore the relationship between physical activity and prosocial behavior in college students, and to examine whether self-perception and gender may play mediating and moderating roles, respectively, in that relationship. Methods The International Physical Activity Questionnaire-long form, Prosocial Tendencies Measure, and Self-perception Scale were used to survey 647 college students in Yangzhou, China. Internal consistency testing, one-way analyses of variance (ANOVAs) across physical activity levels, exploratory factor analysis, correlation testing, mediation effect testing (independent variable, physical activity; mediating variable, self-perception; dependent variable, prosocial behavior), bootstrap testing and moderated mediation testing were conducted. Results Physical activity level was not found to be a direct predictor prosocial behavior in college students. Self-perception was found to play a mediating role between physical activity and prosocial behavior. Conclusion Physical activity is not directly predictive college students’ prosocial behavior tendencies, but it is indirectly predictive through self-perception. This study explores the relationship between the three variables and the path of the relationship, deepening the research related to the relationship between physical activity and prosocial behavior, providing ideas for fostering prosocial behavior in Chinese universities, as well as providing a theoretical basis for possible future empirical research.

Introduction: Moyamoya disease is a progressive, chronic occlusive vascular disease of the circle of Willis arteries leading to the development of collateral circulation to compensate the occlusion. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the potential causes and clinical and imaging characteristics of Moyamoya Disease (MMD) in children. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on the clinical data of 14 MMD children, in which the potential causes were analysed, and the clinical and imaging characteristics were observed. Results: The average patient age was 6.15 y (range 21 months-13 y), and the female/male ratio was 1.3:1.0. There were 332 cases of ischemia and 196 hemorrhages. Eight cases had inducing factors including five cases of upper respiratory tract infection. Twelve cases exhibited limb weakness or hemiplegia. Among these patients, eight cases developed these manifestations as initial symptoms. Furthermore, seven cases presented language barriers, two cases had twitch, and two cases had headaches with unclear vision. All 14 patients underwent cranial Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and the results revealed that twelve cases had cerebral infarction, and two cases had cerebral hemorrhage. Five of 14 patients experienced stenosis or occlusion at the siphon part of the bilateral internal carotid arteries, seven patients had bilateral anterior cerebral artery stenosis or occlusion, 8 were bilateral middle cerebral artery stenosis or occlusion, and 2 were bilateral posterior cerebral artery stenosis or occlusion. All patients smoke-like vessels in the basal ganglia region. Conclusion: High-risk age of child MMD ranged between 4-10 y old, which mostly manifested as transient cerebral ischemic insults; and inducing factors were mostly upper respiratory tract infections.
