Malgré les stratégies thérapeutiques préventives disponibles, les patients âgés sont particulièrement touchés par les infections grippales et pneumococciques et les conséquences sont souvent lourdes dans cette population fragile. L'objectif de cette étude était d'évaluer la couverture vaccinale des patients admis en service de court séjour gériatrique et les caractéristiques des patients les mieux vaccinés. Nous avons donc mené une étude observationnelle prospective auprès de 149 patients admis dans ce type de service. La couverture antigrippale est de 73,8 % avec une vaccination significativement plus importante parmi les patients institutionnalisés (p = 0,01), présentant des troubles cognitifs (p = 0,01) ou semi-dépendants (GIR 3 et GIR 4) (p = 0,02). Au regard des recommandations, 55,7 % de notre population relevait d'une vaccination anti-pneumococcique et parmi ces patients, la couverture vaccinale était très faible : 10,8 %. Le seul facteur prédictif d'une vaccination anti-pneumococcique mis en évidence était une semi-dépendance (p < 0,05). Si la couverture antigrippale est donc satisfaisante dans notre population, la couverture antipneumococcique reste largement insuffisante. Il nous faut donc améliorer la couverture vaccinale de nos patients âgés et fragiles.
