RESUMO -Neste trabalho, estudou-se o craqueamento termo-catalíco do óleo de pupunha (Bactris gasipaes) a 450ºC, 10ºC/min, 1.0 atmosfera, 10% (wt.) de CaCO 3 como catalisador, em escala de bancada. O experimento foi realizado em um reator de vidro boro-silicato cilíndrico de 100 mL, geometria cilíndrica, com aquecimento de resistências cerâmicas, isolado com material refratário, e controle digital de temperatura e taxa de aquecimento. O PLO (Produto Líquido Orgânico) foi caracterizado em termos de densidade, viscosidade cinemática, índice de acidez, índice de saponificação, e índice de refração. Os rendimentos em PLO, coque, e gás foram 67,17%, 28,2%, e 4,63% (wt.), respectivamente. O PLO apresentou índice de acidez de 19,55 mgKOH/g, densidade de 0,830 g/cm³, viscosidade de 5,60 mm 2 /s, e índice de refração de 1,44. A comparação dos resultados experimentais para a caracterização físico-química do PLO com dados similares publicados na literatura, indicam para os parâmetros viscosidade cinemática e densidade uma variação percentual de 24.82 e 0.60%, respectivamente, demonstrando que o craqueamento do óleo de pupunha a 450ºC, 10ºC/min, 1.0 atmosfera, produziu uma mistura líquida com viscosidade cinemática e densidade semelhantes ao diesel fóssil.
