Instrum. 55, 472 (1984); Abstract: Production system for ion milling with a largediameter ion beam J. Vac. Sci. Technol. 15, 789 (1978); 10.1116/1.569710Probing of surface acoustic wave devices with largediameter laser beam Experimental tests of a method for injection of large-diameter, intense positive ion beams into low-density gases are described. 20-keV, 15-mA beams are projected through a supersonic annular gas nozzle which furnished a large aperture (3.18cm diam), while providing differential pumping to allow up to 30 mTorr pressure in the collision chamber. Calorimetrically measured attenuations of large argon and helium ion beams in several gases are given and compared with similar data for small-aperture beams. Possible extensions of the method are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
