-0082D-Polymeric Anion Networks: The Two Novel Perselenoborates BaB 2 Se 6 and Ba 2 B 4 Se 13 .-The new title compounds are prepared by reaction of appropriate amounts of barium selenide, boron, and sulfur (evacuated graphite-coated quartz tube, 1020 K, 4 h; controlled cooling). BaB 2 Se 6 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Cmca (Z = 4) and Ba 2 B 4 Se 13 is monoclinic, space group P2 1 /c (Z = 4), as determined by single crystal XRD. BaB 2 Se 6 contains infinite ∞ 2 [B 2 Se 6 2− ] layers formed by B 2 Se 2 four-membered rings which are connected via four diselenide bridges. This connectivity leads to B 6 Se 12 rings in which the Ba 2+ ions are located. -001Novel Alkaline Earth Metal Chalcogenoborates: Syntheses and Crystal Structures of Sr 4.2 Ba 2.8 (BS 3 ) 4 S and Ba 7 (BSe 3 ) 4 Se.-Colorless plate-shaped crystals of the title compounds are prepared by solid state reaction of the metal sulfides (selenides), amorphous B, and sulfur or selenium (evacuated carbon-coated silica tubes, ≤1083 K). As revealed by single crystal XRD, Sr 4.2 Ba 2.8 (BS 3 ) 4 S and Ba 7 (BSe 3 ) 4 Se crystallize in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 4. structure structure (solids and liquids) D 2000 48 -009 Na 6 [B 18 Se 17 ]: The First Selenoborato-closo-dodecaborate with a Polymeric Chain Anion. -The title compound is synthesized by solid state reaction of Na 2 Se, amorphous B, and Se at 850 • C. Single crystal XRD reveals that Na 6 [B 18 Se 17 ] crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 4. The structure consists of icosahedral B 12 clusters completely saturated with trigonal-planar BSe 3 units and sodium counterions.
