HintergrundDie Prävalenz der peripheren arteriellen Verschlusskrankheit (PAVK) wird mit 3-10 % angegeben, wobei sie mit steigendem Alter deutlich zunimmt und bei Patienten über 70 Jahre bei etwa 15-20 % liegt [1,2]. Entsprechend der klinischen Symptomatik (. Tab. 1) und der stärksten Ausprägung der PAVK unterscheidet man verschiedene Stadien bzw. Verteilungstypen. Die Übergänge der Verteilungstypen (Schultergürtel-, Becken-, Oberschenkel-, Unterschenkel-und akraler Typ) können fließend sein und es kann eine diffuse Verteilung vorherrschen (Mehretagentyp). Etwa 85 % der PAVK manifestiert sich im Bereich der Becken-Bein-Arterien.
