It is the first comprehensive study on Chinese thalassemia major patients. Clinically significant alloantibodies are different from those observed in the Western population, although antibodies developed against Rh antigens are still common. Chinese patients are less likely to have antibodies against Kell and Duffy blood group antigens, but are more prone to develop antibodies against the Miltenberger antigens.
The PEG adsorption method is an effective, sensitive, and efficient method of enhancing auto- antibody adsorption and alloantibody detection. It can reduce the processing time and minimize the delay of urgent transfusions to patients with WAIHA and can indirectly enhance cost-effectiveness and decrease the labor-intensive testing required by these cases.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
