Prony analysis is an emerging methodology that extends Fourier analysis by directly estimating the frequency. damping. strength. and relative phase of modal components present in a given signal. The ability to extract such information from transient stability program simulations and from large-scale system tests or disturbances would be quite valuable to power system engineers. This paper reports early results in the application of this method to stability program output. It also includes benchmarks against known models and a brief mathematical summary.

This paper is devoted to spatial filtering in the context of narrow band array processing. Beamformers are generally linear, like the classical Spatial Matched Filter (SMF) [l] [7] ; therefore, their optimality is only guaranteed in a Gaussian environment-In communications applications, for instance, most of the modulated signals are very far from having a Gaussian distribution : in such cases, a non-linear spatial filter can improve substantially the rejection of non-Gaussian jammers.We are interested in a particular class of non-linear filters : the complex Volterra filters. They have received some applications in signal processing [4] [5], but, in array processing, they were only used for detection [3]. We propose here an application tp spatial filtering : an original non-linear Generalized Sidelobe Canceller [2] is calculated and analytical expression of its performance is derived and discussed.
