I, Dihiphcnylcnathen.Anschliessend an die vorlaufige Mittheilung des Einen yon uns haben wir weitere Versuche uber den rothen Kohlenwasserstoff, ausgefuhrt, welche in erster Linie die Darstellinng betreffen. Dieselbe beruht darauf, dass dem Fluoren die Methylenwasserstoffe entzogen werden. D e l a H a r p e und v a n D o r p hatten dies durch Ueberleiten von Fluoren uber zum schwachen Gluhen erhitztes Bleioxyd bewirkt, G r a e b e und v o n Mantz hatten gefunden, dass es auch durch Brom, Chlor und Schwefel bei 250-300" erfolgt. Der Eine ron uns hatte dann schon angegeben, dass die Darstellung am Einfachsten durch Erhitzen eines Gemenges von Fluoren und Bleioxyd auf 300-360° auszufiihren ist. Wir haben dies Verfahren weiter ausgearbeitet und siiid so zu einer ganz befriedigenden Gewinnungsweise gelangt. Hierbei wurde gefunden, dass die Bildung des rothen Kohlenwasserstoffs in zwei Phasen verlauft, indem zuerst Dibiphenylenathaxi entsteht, welches d a m weiter oxydirt wird: hnnalen der Chemie 291.
