ground state fundamental of HNCO (577 cm'1 234).26 One of the two excited states has a much higher probability of dissociation to NH* + CO than the other. A discussion of the dynamics of the photodissociation of HNCO will be presented in detail in a future publication.25
V. ConclusionsWe have measured the branching ratio [NCO]/[NH] for photodissociation of HNCO at 193 nm and have found that the formation of NH(a'A) dominates that of NCO by about an order of magnitude. The photolysis of HNCO is thus an efficient precursor for NH(a'A). We have also determined the heat of (26) Steiner, D.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
