L’examen parasitologique de 738 bovins de types zébu, taurin et de leurscroisements (zébu x taurin) du nord du Togo, d’âge compris entre 1 et12 mois, a permis de mettre en évidence plusieurs agents pathogènes et vecteursappartenant à différents groupes de parasites (piroplasmes, trypanosomes,nématodes, tiques et glossines) et d’évaluer leur fréquence relative(Babesia : 16,9 p. 100 de prévalence ; Trypanosoma : 11,0 p. 100 ; stronglesdigestifs : 46,4 p. 100). Les actions pathogènes de ces parasites sur leurs hôtesont été évaluées par la mesure du taux d’hématocrite (29,3 p. 100 enmoyenne) qui s’est élevé en fin de saison sèche (31,1 p. 100) et dans leszones d’application d’insecticides épicutanés sur le bétail (29,6 p. 100) où lesanimaux étaient suivis dans le cadre du Projet régional de lutte contre la trypanosomoseanimale (Plta). Au plan épidémiologique, le parasitisme desbovins a varié en fonction des zones éco-géographiques, des saisons, du suivides animaux par le Plta, des races, du type d’élevage et de l’âge des animaux.Il a pu être confirmé que la trypanosomose et la strongylose étaient des fléauximportants, en revanche Babesia sp. s’est révélée comme un hémoparasitedont l’impact sur la santé des veaux avait été sous-estimé.
