The mainstay of pediatric dental practice is the successful esthetic rehabilitation of a preschooler with advanced carious lesions. Loss of masticatory efficiency, compromised esthesis, mispronunciation of labiodentals sounds, and development of abnormal oral habits are compromises arising due to the loss of primary anterior teeth at an early age either due to trauma or due to caries. Parental desire is the most decisive factor for the placement of an anterior esthetic appliance. This unique case report highlights the fabrication of simple, Groper's appliance in a 5-year-old child with early childhood caries.

Consanguineous marriage is the union between two individuals who are related as second cousins or closer and who have a common ancestor. There are various contributing factors to these marriages, namely, economic, cultural, social factors, and cultural isolation. Many societies nowadays do not allow marriages between close relatives, perhaps as a result of observations on the progeny of consanguineous marriages and the fear of unhealthy offsprings. This review article mainly intends to throw light on the genetic abnormalities caused by consanguineous marriages. It aspires to reveal the mystery behind the uncut diamonds sparkling as healthy children.

AimThe aim of this study is to evaluate the various dentofacial deformities in children who were surgically managed for cleft lip and palate (CLP).Materials and methodsThe study was carried out in 100 surgically managed cleft lip palate children between the ages of 4 years and 15 years. After eliciting a detailed history, a thorough intraoral and extraoral examination was done and details were recorded in a printed proforma with photographs.DesignCross-sectional study.Statistical analysis usedAll the data were analyzed using SPSS 11.5 software for evaluation using the Chi-square test.ResultsA wide range of surgical, dental, and functional problems among the surgically managed CLP patients were seen.ConclusionThe timing of direct lip repair showed a significant influence on the severity of dentofacial deformities.
