The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of the magazine's founding issue owned by the Gachon Museum and the philosophy of the museum's founder, and to present a plan for the preservation and utilization of the magazine. As a result of the study, the Gachon Museum was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest collection of more than 20,000 first editions in Korea, including rare and unique editions. In addition, this study suggested that the establishment of digital archives (digital standardization of analog data, card news production of original content, metaverse use, audio book conversion of mixed text in Korean and Chinese), museum education (including education on the value of museum founders as well as contents), government financial and institutional support and public interest are needed. Through this, this study is meaningful in providing practical and academic implications to the magazine industry and publishing academia, which are seeking new possibilities.
The aim of this paper is to explore Jeong Yak Yong’s thoughts about publishing. In this paper, Jeong Yak Yong’s the view of media, writing and reading are analysed through the integrative reading about his books. This study based on ‘Mogk Min Sim Seo’(牧民心書), ‘Letters from a place of exile’(유배지에서 온 편지), ‘Biography of Teacher SaAm’(俟菴先生年譜), ‘Gyeongseyupyo’(經世遺表) and other materials focused on his world view of writing and reading. The results of study is divided into three parts. First part is about his viewpoint of communication and media That is as follows : 1) Jeong Yak Yong’s thought about communication, especialy speech, 2) Thought of ‘Eon-gwan(言官)’ 3) ‘Yuneum(綸音)’, 4) Jeong Yak Yong’s thought about Book. Second part is about world view of writing the book. That is as follows: 1) Prerequisite of writing the book, 2) Prudence of writing, 3) The Openness of writing, 4) Collaborate writing, 5) the Ethics of writing, 6) Instrumental viewpoint of writing, 7) Audience-centered writing, etc. Three parts is about reading. That is as follows : 1) the Essence of reading, 2) Sellect the book, 3) the Method of reading, etc. This paper will contribute the making of the identity of publishing science in Korea because of examining of publishing thoughts of Jeong Yak Yong.
