The aim of the study is the measuring of changes in the spectral reflectivity water quality, analyzing the seasonal difference of Tigris River within Mosul City in the north of Iraq using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques during the period (2014-2018). For this paper, Satellite images of the 8 Landsat in 2018 for four seasons have been selected in order to study the seasonal changes on the river they took place during 2018. A total of ten sample datasets were taken at the upstream, midstream and downstream along the Tigris River. This research focuses on analyzing the locational variance of reflectance, analyzing seasonal difference, and finding modeling algal amount change. There are distinctive reflectance differences among the downstream, mid-stream and upstream areas. Red, green, blue and near-infrared reflectance values decreased significantly toward the upstream. Results also showed that reflectance values are significantly associated with the seasonal factor. In the case of long-term trends, reflectance values have slightly increased in the downstream, while decreased slightly in the mid-stream and upstream. The modeling of chlorophyll-a and Secchi disk depth implies that water clarity has decreased over time while chlorophyll-a amounts have decreased. The decreasing water clarity seems to be attributed to other reasons than chlorophyll-a.
The aim of the study is the assessment of changes in the land cover within Mosul City in the north of Iraq using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques during the period (2014-2018). Satellite images of the Landsat 8 on this period have been selected to classify images in order to measure normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) to assess land cover changes within Mosul City. The results indicated that the vegetative distribution ratio in 2014 is 4.98% of the total area under study, decreased to 4.77% in 2015 and then decreased to 4.54 % in 2016, after then decreased to 3,59% in 2017,then increased to 4.39% in 2018. Land cover change of the area was identified using Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) technique. Highest NDVI value was found in 2015 (6.26%) which denotes presence of moderate-high vegetation cover at that time period. After 2015, highest NDVI value was found following a decreasing trend (6.05% in 2016 and 5.96% in 2018) which clearly represents the vegetation cover change in the study area, also Green Normalized. Difference Vegetation Index (GNDVI) is studied in this paper. Statistical properties for NDVI and GNDVI were illustrated has been computed. From the results of this study one can clearly notice that there are the spatial variation in the vegetal cover from 2014 to 2018 in Mosul city, north of Iraq.
This study compared and classified of land use and land cover changes by using Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) on two cities (Al-Saydiya city and Al-Hurriya) in Baghdad province, capital of Iraq. In this study, Landsat satellite image for 2020 were used for (Land Use/Land Cover) classification. The change in the size of the surface area of each class in the Al-Saydiya city and Al-Hurriya cities was also calculated to estimate their effect on environment. The major change identified, in the study, was in agricultural area in Al-Saydiya city compare with Al-Hurriya city in Baghdad province. The results of the research showed that the percentage of the green area from the total area in Al-Saydiya city is 34.95%, while in Al-Hurriya is 27.53%. Therefore, available results of land use and land cover changes can provide critical input to decision-making of environmental management and planning the future.
The problem of dark matter in galaxies is still one of the most important unsolved problems in the contemporary extragalactic astronomy and cosmology. The existence of a significant dynamic difference between the visible mass and the conventional mass of galaxies firmly establishes observational result. In this paper an unconventional explanation will be tested as an alternative to the cold dark matter hypothesis; which is called the modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND).
In this paper covers the simulation of galactic evolutions; where the two hypotheses are tested via the rotation curves. N-body simulation was carried adopting different configuration like a hot disk, elliptical (with arms and without arms) with a different parameter that covers the objects distribution, masses and velocities. It is shown from the simulation results that the MOND hypothesis has generated better rotation curves than the Newtonian theorem. Moreover, the appropriate configuration and parameters for spiral galaxy are investigated. It is shown that this assignment has not been easy; because the problem is very delicate and unstable.
