Today, for the sake of gaining tourism revenues, culture, nature and historical values are being ignored especially in island countries. As a result, tourism activities in the country decelerate and even vanish in time. According to the current tourism understanding, tourists are curious about the historical and cultural structure, which reflects the spirit of the region, and plan their travels accordingly. In this sense, it is essential that sustainable cultural tourism policies are determined by people-government-civil society cooperatively. One of the first steps of this action is to determine the opinions and attitudes of local people on sustainable cultural tourism. In this paper, Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus, was chosen as the research area and a survey was conducted with 100 people living in this area in order to measure their perception and attitudes on sustainable cultural tourism and preservation of cultural heritage. SPSS 24.0 statistical package program was used in analyzing the obtained data. Frequency, percentage and chi-square calculations were made. Based on the results of the study, it can be claimed that an environment should be created where people of Nicosia would participate in tourism activities and some plans should be made to realize such an environment.
In this paper, the education programs offered to students with special needs in the online distance education format during the Covid-19 pandemic period in TRNC and the online family guidance/counseling services offered to their families were evaluated from the perspective of the families. In the study, the data obtained follow a parallel course with other studies in the literature. In studies on the academic support provided by families for children and family participation in learning processes, the relation between family involvement at home and at school and academic success was revealed, which is also the case in this study. In addition, family involvement was determined as an essential predictor of the school success of students, and it was emphasized that increasing family participation would help education reach higher standards and students encounter alternative opportunities.
Individuals with special needs have such rights as benefiting from health services and obtaining an education which is consistent with their abilities. As long as they can use these rights effectively like other individuals do, they are satisfied, active and productive in their social lives. Individuals with special needs who were ignored and neglected for centuries became socially accepted after social values began to change in a positive direction. This positive change was mostly felt in the field of education. The purpose of this study is to display the social acceptance level of students with special needs by normal peers in inclusive classes in TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus). According to the findings, female participant students show more positive social acceptance towards inclusive students compared to male students, and it was found out that social acceptance level does not show any difference based on age of the participants.
Covid-19, which emerged in the Wuhan city of People’s Republic of China and affected the whole world, was first seen in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkey in March 2020. Due to the negative impact created by the mentioned disease, face-to-face education which was traditionally applied in Turkey and Northern Cyprus was ceded and total distance education was adopted rapidly so that education would not be hindered. Although distance education has a long history in the world, the total transformation of the system required a certain ef-fort for both students and teachers to have a command in the process. In the arti-cle, based on the opinions of faculty members and students, the education system that has completely changed in universities with the pandemic process is evaluat-ed. The distance education system, which is thought to have an important place in education after today, has been evaluated especially by pointing out the deficien-cies and making some recommendations to eliminate them. In the research, meas-urement and evaluation came to the fore as one of the most important problems in the distance education system. At this point, it is predicted that a more process-oriented measurement and evaluation process will produce healthier results.
The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes and opinions of pre-service Turkish teachers about blended learning in a course called Turkish as a Foreign Language. As part of the study, various activities based on blended learning were first organized and then implemented by the researchers in the course. Taking a quasi-experimental approach as a model, a 'Single Group Pre-Test-Post Test Pattern' was used. When the opinions of the pre-service teachers in the quasi-experimental application process were evaluated, it was seen that their learning skills improved, they used the time allocated to education more effectively, but in some respects, the outcomes turned out to be more negative (i.e. lack of opportunities to ask questions, cutting corners, free-riding) on students. The pre-service teachers stated that problems shortcomings in technology mostly affected blended learning negatively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
