We aimed to investigate burnout and posttraumatic stress symptoms in mortuary staff members who work for the Council of Forensic Medicine where more than 4500 autopsies are annually performed.The data were collected from 142 mortuary staff members from the Council of Forensic Medicine, Turkey. The participants were divided into the following 4 groups: forensic medicine specialists (n = 40, 28.2%), forensic medicine residents (n = 54, 38.0%), autopsy technicians (n = 24, 16.9%), and other staff members (n = 24, 16.9%). All of the participants completed a brief sociodemographic form and standardized questionnaires to assess health symptoms, such as the Maslach Burnout Inventory and Posttraumatic Symptom Screening Scale.Forensic medicine staff members are at risk for developing psychological health symptoms, such as burnout or posttraumatic stress, due to work-related stressors. We observed that autopsy technicians seemed to have more emotional exhaustion and posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms, whereas resident doctors had a lower sense of personal accomplishment.
Forensic geneticists often use short tandem repeats (STRs) to solve cases. However, STRs can be insufficient when DNA samples are degraded due to environmental exposure and mass disasters, alleged and real relatives are genetically related in paternity or kinship analyses, or a suspect is lacking. In such cases, single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) can provide valuable information and thus should be seriously considered as a tool to help resolve challenging cases. In this review, the current status of SNP analyses in forensic applications and the comparative advantages and disadvantages of SNPs with other biomarkers are discussed.

ABSTRACTDisappearing ink are water-based acid-base indicators. It's change from a coloured to a colourless solution upon exposure to the air. Although disappearing inks are mostly used joke tool, these inks are abused in forgery. A bond that generated using disappearing ink was presented in this study. This document was examined use VSC 6000/HS in Questioned Document Examination Laboratory.
ÖZETMezenter ven trombozu nadir gör ülen fakat mortalitesi yüksek olan bir hastalıktır. Klinik belirtilerinin semptomsuz olması nedeniyle tanı koymak güçtür. Tanı çoğunlukla laparotomi veya otopsi ile konur. Mezenter ven trombozu etiyolojisinde birçok faktör sayılmaktadır. Olgumuzda otopsi ve histopatolojik inceleme ile tespit ettiğimiz karaciğer sirozu ve kronik piyelonefrit bu nedenler arasında sayılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, V. lienalis, V. pankreatika ve süperior mezenterik ven dallarınına kadar uzanan portal ven trombozuna bağlı tama yakın ince bağırsak nekrozu gelişmiş olan olgu sunuldu.Anahtar sözcükler: Karaciğer sirozu; mezenter ven trombozu; otopsi.
