La teoría cuantitativa del dinero es una herramienta de suma importancia que se emplea para el estudio de las políticas monetarias y económicas de los países, permite conocer la relación que existe entre la base monetaria y la inflación, y cómo la inflación afecta al desarrollo económico. Debido a que el enfoque de esta teoría estipula que un incremento de la base monetaria sin control equivaldría al aumento en el nivel general de precios, se planteó como objetivo determinar si existe causalidad entre las variables de estudio, base monetaria e inflación, en el Ecuador durante el periodo 2015-2020, al ser este un periodo post crisis por el descenso de los precios internacionales del petróleo. Los resultados evidencian una relación de equilibrio a largo plazo entre estas variables, con bajos niveles de inflación y con una base monetaria bastante estable, debido al control cuasi rígido que produce la dolarización sobre el gasto público, lo que permitió concluir que, en el periodo de estudio, en el Ecuador existió causalidad positiva entre la inflación y la base monetaria; además la relación de cointegración de dichas variables se cumple a largo plazo
El crecimiento caracterizado en los últimos años de Latinoamérica ha llevado analizar dos factores que afectan la sostenibilidad de las economías, como es la masa monetaria y la inflación, indicadores que generan volatilidad en los comportamientos por los niveles de ingresos de divisas y la repercusión en los precios de bienes y servicios. Uruguay es parte de las economías afectadas por las crisis económicas enfrentando períodos de recesión y recuperación. Por tal motivo, el objetivo principal consiste en determinar la incidencia de la inflación en la masa monetaria de Uruguay, periodo 1985-2017, la base de datos obtenida corresponde al Banco Mundial. La metodología es modelación econométrica y documental. Los resultados señalan que al incrementarse la masa monetaria aumenta la inflación o viceversa, demostrando que las variantes son estadísticamente significativas con un R^2 de 0.862. Las conclusiones establecen que, en los primeros años del periodo de estudio se observa un aumento agresivo de inflación por las circunstancias de capacidad del dinero en la economía uruguaya, sin embargo, el proceso disminuye en los siguientes años, las políticas económicas de largo plazo adoptadas han estado encaminadas en el fortalecimiento de la producción con controles en los precios y direccionamiento de fondos al sector empresarial.
