videos were created, addressing diverse themes on kidney diseases, from prevention to treatment. We have also interviewed patients (on dialysis and transplanted) and health professionals in order to have an idea of the main knowledge gaps in kidney diseases to be covered by our material. Results: The Renal Health app is available initially for android (in Google Play) and a version for iOS is being developed, both in the Portuguese version, and is currently being tested with patients in Brazil (in dialysis and transplanted patients). An English version is being elaborated, to further be tested in other countries. The app provides information about all aspects of kidney disease and provide tools to help patients self-monitor their treatment. Patients without CKD (general population) can achieve information about risk factors for kidney disease and test renal function based on serum creatinine (screening tool). For patients on dialysis there are several tools to help patients monitor their treatment (control liquids ingestion, interdialytic weight control, medications intake, medical consultations and other aspects), and for transplanted patients the main tool will be control of medications, medical visits and information about clinical complications. A smart medication box will also be provided to register the time of medication intake and monitor patients' adherence to medications' intake. The videos, elaborated in an animated format, were built on the basis of a dialogue between a physician (a Nephrologist) and a patient, addressing topics that included the concepts, treatment and means of CKD prevention, through direct interlocution, in an attempt to invite the viewer to participate in the debate. A channel in youtube was created, called "Renal Health", to house the videos (link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3-GHeHAndcrRmbE4I_qE_w).Conclusions: Digital media focused on health education for CKD are interesting tools to help patients understand their disease and better cope with their treatment, which is complex and, most of times, requires huge efforts to achieve the prescribed goals. Applications, videos and the internet are only one part of the multiple platforms that technology provides in the digital era. Further development is expected in the field of Nephrology for patients' education.
