Dans l’optique d’une actualisation des concepts de l’éthique et de l’idéologie, cet article se veut une analyse d’un aspect singulier de la santé, à savoir la prévention et la promotion de la santé mentale, selon un type de discours s’intéressant à la santé publique et préventive, en l’occurrence celui privilégié par le magazine écrit et populaire. Nous tâcherons de savoir si ce discours a une intention éthique ou, au contraire, s’il privilégie une idéologie visant à établir une médicalisation de la vie. Nous vérifierons ensuite s’il existe un passage de l’éthique, qui privilégie la réflexion du sujet à partir de ses valeurs, vers l’idéologie, qui institue des normes des principes et des règles. Nous avons divisé notre recherche en trois sections. Nous ferons une revue de la littérature scientifique et gouvernementale, afin de présenter le développement de la santé publique et préventive en santé mentale. Puis nous verrons comment l’éthique et l’idéologie s’inscrivent dans le discours. Nous légitimerons ensuite les magazines répertoriés à partir de critères précis et reprendrons l’ensemble des articles analysés pour caractériser leur intention, et démontrer le passage de l’éthique à l’idéologie privilégiant une médicalisation sociale.
