RESUMO:O estudo das estruturas das rochas do Grupo Cuiabá, na região de Cangas, permitiu a identificação de três fases de deformação. A principal estrutura relacionada à primeira fase de deformação é uma clivagem ardosiana, paralela à estratificação e ao plano-axial de dobras recumbentes, com orientação 120/27. Nos estágios precoces desta fase foi gerada uma família de veios de quartzo (V1) disposta paralela às suas estruturas, sendo, em sua maioria, deformada. A segunda fase de deformação formou uma clivagem espaçada (Sn+1), plano-axial de dobras normais, abertas a suaves e assimétricas e com orientação preferencial 110/68. A terceira fase de deformação é representada por um conjunto de fraturas de porte centimétrico a decamétrico e falhas com rejeitos métricos, que cortam todas as estruturas anteriores e têm orientação preferencial 35/82. Relacionada a esta fase de deformação ocorre uma segunda família de veios de quartzo (V2), que preenche as fraturas relacionadas à Dn+2 e pode (ou não) ser portadora de mineralizações auríferas.
