A língua é uma importante estrutura que influencia a fala, a nutrição, a deglutição e a amamentação. A anquiloglossia (ou língua presa) é uma anomalia caracterizada por um frênulo lingual anormalmente curto que limita os movimentos da língua, prejudicando sua capacidade de executar suas funções. As técnicas cirúrgicas mais comuns para a remoção do freio lingual são a frenotomia, a frenectomia, a frenuloplastia e a cirurgia com uso de laser. A literatura relata que a anquiloglossia é considerada rara e pode ser encontrada em bebês, adolescentes e adultos. O objetivo desse trabalho é apresentar uma revisão de literatura sobre a anquiloglossia, seu diagnóstico e tratamento.
