A radiocirurgia estereotáxica intracraniana é uma técnica de radioterapia que aplica elevada dose de radiação em uma única fração para tratar tumores ou lesões intracranianos pequenos. Para tal, é necessário extremo rigor no controle de qualidade de cada radiocirurgia para garantir a exatidão necessária na entrega da dose absorvida dos tratamentos realizados. O objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver um protótipo simulador de cabeça de baixo custo que possa ser utilizado no controle de qualidade de radiocirurgia estereotáxica intracraniana. O protótipo simulador foi construído utilizando uma cabeça de manequim adulto de plástico, cujo interior foi preenchido com cera de abelha e foi acoplado um suporte fixador para uma câmara de ionização. A homogeneidade do preenchimento foi avaliada por meio de imageamento por tomografia computadorizada e o seu desempenho como simulador foi avaliado por meio da comparação entre a dose absorvida calculada pelo sistema de planejamento e a dose absorvida medida no protótipo. Dos seis tratamentos simulados, quatro apresentaram diferenças percentuais relativas dentro de um limite de tolerância de ± 5 % e dois apresentaram valores acima desta tolerância. Esses resultados preliminares indicam um bom desempenho do protótipo simulador, mas que são necessários ajustes para garantir que o tratamento planejado e o efetivado sejam os mesmos dentro dos limites de tolerância estabelecidos.
