Este trabalho discute a espacialização e estudo da AIDS no Norte de Minas Gerais. A metodologia utilizada consistiu em pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, pesquisa de campo para observação in loco, entrevistas com portador da AIDS e profissional do poder público municipal e registros iconográficos. A AIDS é uma doença que tem exigido esforços do poder público por apresentar grande número de casos e/ou incidência em um pequeno intervalo de tempo. Passou a ser disseminada devido a liberdade sexual, transfusões sanguíneas, uso de drogas injetáveis, entre outros fatores. Os resultados da pesquisa apontam que o tratamento da doença demanda melhor infraestrutura nos setores de saúde, assim como uma política para acesso dos portadores de HIV e doentes de AIDS em instituições que promovem o aconselhamento, apoio e testes de HIV. Evidenciou-se também a necessidade de investimento em profissionais capacitados que desenvolvam ações para amenizar os impactos da AIDS no Norte de Minas Gerais.
A Geografia tem contribuído, cada vez mais, para a saúde humana. Aliada as Geotecnologias essa ciência tem destaque na distribuição espacial e espaço-temporal das doenças. Este trabalho analisa a dinâmica da Tuberculose na Microrregião de Montes Claros entre 2006 e 2016. A metodologia utilizada consistiu em pesquisa bibliográfica, coleta de dados no Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde- DATASUS (2017), Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística- IBGE (2010) e Programa das Nações Unidas para o Desenvolvimento- PNUD, Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada- IPEA, Fundação João Pinheiro- FJP (2013), e na confecção de mapas pelo software ArcGis 10.2. A Tuberculose é uma doença crônica infecciosa e transmissível que afeta principalmente os pulmões, sua incidência e propagação e as condições socioeconômicas apresentam fortes ligações. Os resultados demonstraram que alguns municípios da microrregião possuem alto risco epidêmico por Tuberculose. Evidenciou-se a necessidade de investimentos governamentais para melhor qualidade de vida e saúde da população.
