During emergency remote instruction resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, school administrators reported that district-approved teacher observation forms and walk-through checklists did not entirely capture the modified instructional behaviors required by teachers of the gifted in a virtual learning environment. To address the demand for modified observation forms and walk-through checklists that can be used by principals and administrators, supplemental observation tools were developed. Although most students have returned to face-to-face instruction, some continue to access part-time online instruction and many districts have expanded virtual school options in response to needs that arose during the pandemic; therefore, a need for these instruments will continue post-pandemic.
