Abstract: Within Pain Management Centres, very frequently patients are labelled with an actual status of ''chronic pain sufferer''. This particular status overcomes other social statuses and roles. These patients also run the risk of acquiring a second (psychopathologic or psychosomatic) label because pain's aetiology is very frequently researched. Very often, in our opinion, this contributes to forgetting that the patient is a human being. Moreover, many studies have shown that psychopathology and chronic pain aren't necessarily connected. As Tobie Nathan, we prefer considering these patients as experts on their pain's world. We also prefer to provide the best possible support, because almost all of them will have to undertake an actual bereavement process related to never being able to return to a former idealised state, exempt from all pain.
