RESUMO: O presente trabalho constitui uma pesquisa bibliográfica direcionada ao aproveitamento da energia dissipada nas válvulas redutoras de pressão. Nesse sentido, propõe-se o estudo do sistema de distribuição predial e análise da possibilidade de conversão da energia potencial dissipada na VRP em energia elétrica a fim de ser utilizada em sistemas e equipamentos de baixa demanda de carga. Desse modo, o presente estudo aborda as particularidades construtivas das edificações em paralelo com as características técnicas das VRPs existentes no mercado a fim de avaliar a possibilidade técnica de aproveitamento da energia dissipada. O levantamento baseou-se nos seguintes dados de entrada: 1) o volume total mensal de abastecimento de água, 2) consumo diário por habitante, 3) quantitativo de vazão e pressão para abastecimento do sistema e 4) altura manométrica de cada ponto para, em seguida, definir o tipo de turbina e gerador indicados para o projeto com sistema de aproveitamento de energia. De posse dos dados levantados na literatura, foi realizada uma simulação para um edifício de 36 pavimentos considerando sua instalação predial de água fria, incluindo as VRP’s. Por meio de equações matemáticas sugeridas pela literatura, pode-se alcançar com a simulação a geração diária de 3,88 kWh.
