Important institutions, such as the World Health Organization, recommend reducing alcohol consumption by encouraging healthier drinking habits. This could be achieved, for example, by employing more effective promotion of non-alcoholic beverages. For such purposes, in this study, we assessed the role of experiential beer packaging sounds during the e-commerce experience of a non-alcoholic beer (NAB). Here, we designed two experiments. Experiment 1 evaluated the influence of different experiential beer packaging sounds on consumers’ general emotions and sensory expectations. Experiment 2 assessed how the sounds that evoked more positive results in Experiment 1 would influence emotions and sensory expectations related to a NAB digital image. The obtained results revealed that a beer bottle pouring sound helped suppress some of the negativity that is commonly associated with the experience of a NAB. Based on such findings, brands and organizations interested in more effectively promoting NAB may feel encouraged to involve beer packaging sounds as part of their virtual shopping environments.
The authors describe the importance of music design for background instrumental music and the effect on task performance. Three instrumental music conditions that differ in tempo, articulation, mode, and musical meter were tested using a complex task scenario. The task was performed using a complicated web-interface that required users to focus their attention and perform several specific interactions for successfully finishing the task. All the interactions with the interface were recorded. Moreover, a mixed assessment of the emotional state, perceived task performance, and music perception was asked to participants upon task completion. Experimental results revealed that music design has complex effects on task performance and emotion. Also, the results revealed important trends that can help design music environments to control frustration when confronted to complex and cognitively demanding tasks.
Studies on the effect of music on task performance are contradictory about this relationship’s direction and valence. Task characteristics may be accounting for these inconclusive findings. Thus, this study employs effort to mediate music’s effect on task performance (objective and perceived) under a stressful decision-making process. This is a between-group experiment with three conditions: slow-tempo music, fast-tempo music, or no music. We designed a computer web interface, where participants did a stressful task. Results demonstrated that participants made a strong effort under the conditions with music. Hence, turning the music off under stressful activities is favorable in terms of performance. The article contributes to understanding the interaction between music and task performance, expanding the discussion within a stressful task.
Al trabajar con microservicios existen diferentes caminos que se pueden tomar, un sinfín de tecnologías que se pueden utilizar y por ahora no hay un camino estandarizado que los arquitectos y desarrolladores de software deben tomar para implementar este patrón de arquitectura. Para transacciones distribuidas a nivel de diferentes microservicios, no existe un camino especifico a tomar, como en tecnologías anteriores que se apalancaban en servidor de aplicaciones y componentes especializados, desarrollados a medida para tecnologías de una casa de software que lograban que la confianza en las soluciones fuese alta. Es por ello por lo que en esta investigación se propone un sistema de procesamiento de transacciones para aplicar compensación y marcha atrás en transacciones distribuidas de microservicios, ajena a la tecnología implementada y sin que afecte el rendimiento de los microservicios. Se propone y se implementa una arquitectura basada en el patrón de eventos, apalancándonos en la computación en la nube para disponibilidad los microservicios, el procesamiento de los eventos y la persistencia de datos. Esto con el fin de brindar una herramienta a los arquitectos y desarrolladores de software para resolver el problema de orquestar transacciones distribuidas a nivel de diferentes microservicios.
