Industry 4.0 or Digital Revolution ischanging the way we live, changing interactions withclients and companies, which inevitably implies thatboth existing business methods and financial servicesare not exempt from this change. In the bankingworld, accelerated digitalization has made banks intensivelyre-examine traditional business models, which means that they have to respond quickly andefficiently to the demands of their clients while offeringsafe and simple services for use. Security and trust arestill key determinants, and banks have developed innovativebanking services and products over the pastfew years, including secured systems that reliably protectdata and money of clients. However, just like anyindustrial revolution, both Industry 4.0 and its impacton the transformation of the banking sector carrywith themselves both positive and negative consequencesof this transformation. Digitalization of thebanking sector is in full capacity, with the fact that thisprocess also includes other component parts of the Industry4.0, such as blockchain networks, artificial intelligence,IoT, biometrics, cooperation of banks withFinTech companies, preparation of the platform andother services for the Generation Z and other. In this paper, we explore how increased competition, new legislation, and all the changes that camewith digitalization, will affect the banking sector inthe upcoming period, will the banking sector look significantlydifferent in the upcoming years, and will, despiteall technological changes, human factor, trustand security still be the key determinants.
A P S T R A K T U ovom radu objašnjavamo pojam finansijske pismenosti i njegov značaj za građane, finansijske institucije i društvo u cjelini.
SummaryThe objective of this paper is to examine the correlation between the achieved level of technology and innovations and the development of the financial market, index of human development and gross domestic product per capita. The research question reads: "Is the level of technology and innovations related to the market development index, the human development index and GDP per capita, and in what way?" The research objective is to determine whether there is a reason to believe that, by imitating a certain country in relation to the level of digitalisation and innovations, it is possible to further develop the financial market, affect the level of human development or the increase in GDP per capita. Methods used in this paper are regression analysis, i.e. simple linear regression, as well as the analysis and consolidation of preceding research and theoretical findings in order for conclusions to be drawn through an induction method. The paper represents the authors' contribution to the theory and application of economics, as well as to the wider public. The research results also indicate that it would be rational for financial intermediaries in developing countries to consider changing their business models and new possibilities for their adjustment to accelerated technological changes. The subject of this paper is an analysis of the impact of the crisis caused by coronavirus on business decisions of issuers whose shares are listed on the Banja Luka Stock Exchange, through the example of dividend payment decisions. For the purpose of determining the factual situation, we observed publicly available financial reports of all companies that paid dividends from profits for 2018 and 2019 and made a comparison of profit retention rates in the two observed periods. We also analyzed other available information on the operations of these issuers. The research results show that in 10 out of 16 cases in which there was dividend payment from profits for 2019, the rate of profit retention increased compared to 2018. In addition to the mentioned 16 cases of dividend payment from the profit for the previous year, two cases were recorded in which dividend payment was made, but from the accumulated profit of previous years, so that the retention rate was not calculated for these issuers. If we take into account the fact that, in almost all cases, the decision on the (non-)payment of dividends was made at a time when uncertainties regarding coronavirus were already present in Republika Srpska, it can be concluded that the impending crisis had an impact on 2019 net results distribution decisions.
