Abstract. This study aims to understand how participants of an extracurricular school sport program see the sports facilities. Photovoice has been used as a technique to collect data, a qualitative methodology little known in the school sport field. The study developed with four children of Primary School, which belonged to three schools of the city that were participating in the program. Each student took photographs of the facilities and materials where they trained for two weeks. Afterwards a discuss group was conducted with four students. The data obtained was analyzed with Atlas.ti.7.0.83 program. The outcomes show how students focus their attention on issues related with safety and aesthetics or appearance of facilities and equipment. The main conclusions show that: (1) photovoice can be a valid tool to reflect the students´ perceptions about their social context; and (2) the report sent to the municipal authorities led to changes in the facilities evaluated.
We compare these results with those of the first year to analyze the program´s progress and its reasons. We have used a mixed methodology, through the questionnaires done for different stakeholders (students, parents, PE teachers and monitors) and interviews with coordinators and monitors. The quantitative data (questionnaires) have been analyzed with the statistic program SPSS 20.0 and the qualitative data (interviews) have been analyzed with a common category system. The results show a high satisfaction index with the program in the four groups, although the monitors´ group is the most critical and its satisfaction have decreased in the last three years, due to economic, bureaucratic and formative reasons. All groups agree with the educative and formative approach of physical activity, though the students group shows less agreement level. This paper concludes with the requirement of integrate in the research communication methodologies, that allowed a higher participation of different groups to take decisions and develop the program. Key words: youth sport, programs evaluation, questionnaire, in-depth interview, satisfaction index, mixed methodology.
