Porous sintered reaction-bonded silicon nitride ceramics with dual-sized pore channels were fabricated using granules consisting of a Si-additive. A pressureless tapping method was used to maintain the spherical morphology of the weak spraydried granules. Emphasis was placed on the formation of wide pore channels (f ! 10 mm). In addition to the successful formation of wide pore channels between the granules, narrow channels formed inside the granules. The size of the wide channels (f 5 5-20 mm) depended on the granule. On the other hand, the narrow channel size (fo1 mm) remained the same regardless of the granule size.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
