Edition Politik Band 142 Birgül Demirtaş, Zeitzeugin des Solinger Brandanschlags, studierte Sozialpädagogik/Soziale Arbeit sowie Empowerment Studies. Ihre Schwerpunkte sind u.a. Rassismus(-kritik), rechte sowie rassistische Gewalt aus der Betroffenenperspektive und antimuslimischer Rassismus. Im Rahmen von Re_Struct (IDA-NRW) veröffentlichte sie rassismuskritische schulische und außerschulische Bildungsmaterialien zum Solinger Brandanschlag und publiziert zu rassismuskritischen Themen, insbesondere zum Solinger Brandanschlag. Adelheid Schmitz ist Diplom-Sozialpädagogin und wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Forschungsschwerpunkt Rechtsextremismus/Neonazismus sowie des Erinnerungsortes Alter Schlachthof der Hochschule Düsseldorf. Ihre Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind rassismuskritische Weiterbildung von Multiplikator*innen sowie historisch-politische Bildungsarbeit. Derya Gür-Şeker (PD Dr. phil.), geb. 1981, ist Diskurs-und Medienlinguistin. Sie lehrt und forscht in der Germanistischen Linguistik an der Universität Duisburg-Essen. Ihre Schwerpunkte sind Sprache in den (Online-)Medien, Praktiken des Einund Ausschließens und Sprache des Rechtspopulismus. Ihre Habilitationsschrift befasst sich mit linguistischen Zugängen vom Medientext zu Social Media im Kontext von Rechtsextremismus, Rechtspopulismus, Gender und Arbeit. Çağrı Kahveci (Dr. phil.), geb. 1979, ist Sozialwissenschaftler, lehrte Soziologie und war bei Allmende e.V. engagiert. Seine Arbeitsschwerpunkte sind kritische Migrationsforschung, Rassismus/Antirassismus, transnationale Mobilität und Affektforschung.

Über das Leben in Mölln und Kritik an den VerantwortlichenBirgül Demirtaş: Wie habt ihr vor dem Brandanschlag als Familie gelebt? Faruk Arslan: Wir haben wie eine ganz normale türkische Gastarbeiterfamilie gelebt, die für jeden da war und mit jedem immer etwas unternommen hat. Mölln war unsere Heimat, von der wir gedacht haben, wir würden für immer dort glücklich leben. Aber diese Liebe für Mölln wurde mit dem Tod meiner Mutter Bahide Arslan zunichtegemacht. Diesen Tod hat sie nicht verdient. Ob deutsch, türkisch, polnisch, egal, wer es gewesen war, sie war für jeden da. Und sie wollte nicht nur für uns etwas Gutes tun, sondern auch für alle anderen Menschen. Genau das hat Mölln ausgemacht. Wir hätten uns niemals vorstellen können, dass uns in Mölln ein rassistischer und extrem rechter Brandanschlag treffen würde. Es war Samstag, der 29. Mai 1993. Das höchste Fest der Muslim*innen, das Opferfest »Kurban Bayramı«, wurde in den muslimischen Familien vorbereitet. Zudem stand das Pfingstfest an. In dieser Nacht verübten vier weiße junge Solinger aus rassistischen und extrem rechten Motiven einen Brandanschlag auf das Haus der Familie Genç in der Unteren Wernerstraße 81 in Solingen. Sie begründeten das Verbrechen mit ihrem »Hass auf Türk*innen«. 1 Saime (4), Hülya (9) und Hatice Genç (18), Gürsün İnce (27) und Gülüstan Öztürk (12) überlebten den Anschlag nicht und sind qualvoll ums Leben gekommen. Hatice Genç, die Schwiegertochter von Mevlüde und Durmuş Genç, war die einzige Person, die in dieser Nacht noch wach war, die Explosion des Molotowcocktails hörte, das Feuer sah und direkt intervenierte, indem sie die 18 schlafenden Familienmitglieder weckte. 2 Der Brandanschlag hätte vermutlich ein noch verheerenderes Ausmaß angenommen, wenn Hatice Genç an diesem Tag -wie ihre anderen Familienmitglieder -ebenfalls geschlafen hätte. Aus diesem Grund kann Hatice Genç als Retterin angesehen werden, denn sie hat in dieser Nacht alles in ihrer Macht Stehende versucht, die Menschen im Haus zu retten. Ich selbst war damals 19 Jahre alt und lebte mit meiner Familie ebenfalls in Solingen. An diesem Samstagmorgen verstand ich die Welt nicht mehr, noch weniger konnte ich das Motiv dieses Anschlags nachvollziehen. Zwar sprachen meine Eltern von »Rassismus«, jedoch konnte ich damals rational nicht erfassen, welche Dimension Rassismus hat und haben kann. Am 29. Mai 1993 wurde ich das erste Mal mit diesem Terminus konfrontiert. Meine Eltern erklärten, der Anschlag mit fünf Toten resultiere daraus, dass Deutschland ein rassistisches Land sei und dass 1 Urteil des Oberlandesgerichts Düsseldorf (unveröffent.). 2 Siehe den Beitrag von Hatice Genç in diesem Band. 198 Wissenschaftliche Einordnung, Reflexion und Diskussion Nazis jetzt Jagd auf Türk*innen machen. »Almanya ırkcı bir ülke« 3 und »Almanlar Türkleri sevmiyorlar« 4 hörte ich des Öfteren von meinen Eltern. Die Angst in der Familie war groß, dass jederzeit weitere Anschläge erfolgen und »wir« die Nächsten sein könnten. Heute weiß ich, dass nicht nur meine Eltern als Solinger*innen diese Angst seit 1993 in sich trugen und tragen, sondern dass Angst ein Kollektivgefühl deutsch-türkeistämmiger Solinger*innen ist. Die kollektive antizipierte Angst bleibt im Gedächtnis von vielen Solinger*innen, insbesondere nach einem erneuten Brandanschlag in Solingen am 20. Oktober 2021.
