The study aimed to determine the students' level of satisfaction on the services of the Graduate School of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College along professional services, school facilities, and learning environment. It further determined the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, civil status, position, employment status, number of years in teaching and type of school employed in. The profile was correlated to their level of satisfaction. The weaknesses of the services were identified as basis in the development of an Improvement Plan. The study is a descriptive research employing correlational and developmental methods. A sample size of 120 graduate students were selected randomly with a questionnaire as an instrument in obtaining data that were treated using frequency count and percentage, simple bi-variate correlation, and Cronbach Alpha. Results show that the profile of the respondents are of varying background. The three services considered in the study obtained a high satisfaction level. Years of teaching is a determinant of satisfaction on professional services while position shows significant effect on their satisfaction of school facilities and learning environment. The accessibility of books and computers in the library and dormitories were identified as areas that require improvement.
This qualitative research using documentary analysis assessed the struggles and successes of learners in the reading literacy program. More specifically, it sought to determine the problems encountered by the learners; assess how the total development of the learners are being improved; identify what particular methodologies are being employed; and find out what the learners gained from the said program. In the analysis of data, the interview recordings were transcribed to arrive at extended texts. Interview with thematic analysis was used. Finding revealed that Multi and varied problems are faced by the learners during the conduct of the reading literacy program. There were mechanisms employed by the teachers that show development to the learners. Reading Methodologies vary to reach the level of the learner. Learners gained and experienced much during the conduct of the reading literacy program. Thus, it is recommended that the teachers, parents and learners must help one another to eradicate reading problems. Coping mechanisms shall be religiously carried out by the learner for them to improve and develop in their reading skill. Teacher must continue to be patient in teaching struggling readers by employing different methodologies applicable to them. Motivation is needed both internal and external. Parents must show their 100% support to their children particularly on remedial programs. Further studies maybe conducted with other variables not specified within the study. This study tested the effectiveness of the localized learning materials (big books) in teaching the Day Care learners. Furthermore, it determined the level of reading performance of the learner-respondents based on their summative evaluations during the three months of teaching them. It also ascertained the level of reading performance of the learners based on their posttest and tested the effectiveness of Localized Learning Materials (LLM) in improving the reading skills of the learners. Thus, it aimed to establish the level of validity of the localized learning materials based on the evaluation of five DepEd experts. Data gathered were quantitatively described by using frequency, percentage, and mean. Findings revealed that the young learners can perform better because they are motivated to learn when artistically prepared localized materials (big books) are used in the teaching-learning process. They can improve much in their reading performance when the teaching process is aided by big books. The use of localized Learning Materials (big books) is very effective in teaching the beginning readers. On the validity of the materials, it is concluded that they are very much acceptable, appropriate, and functional in teaching the beginning readers. Accordingly, it recommends that the study be replicated in a wider scope and consider including more variables. Likewise, the big books may be reproduced by the CTE (College of Teacher Education), avail for a copyright before it will be distributed to the adopted schools.
