BACKGROUNDSpinal anaesthesia is widely used for lower limb orthopaedic procedure in all age groups. The procedure is safe, but may lead to cardiovascular instability in high risk geriatric patient. Recently, sciatic-femoral nerve block is being used with satisfactory result. The aim of the study was to compare the onset and duration of sensory and motor blockade, intensity and duration of postoperative analgesia, intraoperative and postoperative haemodynamics in between two groups, one receiving spinal anaesthesia and the other sciatic-femoral block (Anterior approach) in high risk geriatric age group.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
