O documentário ativista ambiental e animalista e a ética educativa da tradição documentáriaThe environmental and animal activist documentary and the educational ethics approach on british documentary tradition ResumoPretende-se refletir, neste estudo, sobre as tendências do que se denomina "cinema documentário ambientalista e animalista" a partir da ética educativa da tradição documentária britânica. A proposta do presente artigo é comparar, ainda que em um primeiro momento, as características desse cinema sob o ponto de vista do reconhecimento da influência do modelo ético educativo de Grierson no campo do documentário ambiental e animalista. Será recortado o trabalho desenvolvido pela instituição Nicolaas G. Pierson Foundation, fazendo um paralelo entre seu primeiro longa-metragem, Meat the truth, e o filme de Al Gore, Uma verdade inconveniente, ambos sobre o aquecimento global.
Este estudo pretende refletir sobre as intervenções públicas<br />pelos direitos dos animais e sua construção a partir de audiovisuais.<br />Será colocado em foco o trabalho da organização VEDDAS, que utiliza<br />filmes pelos direitos dos animais em intervenções públicas desde o<br />ano de 2007 com o dispositivo audiovisual VEDDAS-Carte. O equipamento<br />é, duas vezes por semana, montado na Avenida Paulista e<br />outros pontos de grande movimento na cidade de São Paulo.
Não é nossa intenção realizar uma investigação pormenorizada dos estudos animalistas, nossa proposta é uma breve visão panorâmica do movimento pelos animais, que possa apresentar em seu interior como surgiram e o que significam três conceitos do pensamento animalista que serão, de forma geral, utilizados e transmitidos, em maior ou menor grau de acuidade, destaque e relevância, pelos filmes aqui estudados: a senciência, o especismo e veganismo.Apesar da filosofia animalista ser considerada novidade para muitos, a discussão acerca da nossa relação com os animais não humanos não nasceu ontem. O filósofo animalista Tom Regan afirmou, em uma palestra 4 proferida no Brasil em 2006, que Pitágoras, Plutarco e Porfírio trataram dessas questões. Regan vai adiante,

Neste horizonte será analisado o filme<br />documentário curta-metragem Meet your meat – The transformation<br />of animals into food (Conheça sua carne, - Atransformação dos animais<br />em comida), filmado com câmera escondida, sobre o processo cruel<br />de criação e abate de animais para alimentação humana. Produzido<br />pela instituição americana PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals),<br />o filme, produto de uma investigação, através de câmera oculta,<br />conduzida por esta organização no intuito de denunciar práticas de<br />maus-tratos contra animais nas granjas industriais americanas, conta<br />com doze minutos de duração e oferece olhar crítico sobre a criação de<br />animais para consumo humano.
