A new goal of Healthy People 2030-Engage leadership, key constituents, and the public across multiple sectors to take action and design policies that improve the health and well-being of all-directly aligns with the National Association of County and City Health Official's (NACCHO's) work with the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) to promote and advance the implementation of Healthy People 2030 at the local level. Since 2011, NACCHO works to increase the uptake of the initiative at the local level, with a specific focus on how local health departments (LHDs) can incorporate Healthy People objectives and Leading Health Indicators (LHIs) into their work, including how to address the social determinants of health (SDOH). This issue of News From NACCHO discusses opportunities for LHDs and their community partners to use Healthy People 2030 through success stories and other NACCHO and HHS/ODPHP resources to create a shared vision for improving community health.
