O professor de apoio de estudantes autistas tem o papel de mediar a aprendizagem e o desenvolvimento. Diante disso o objetivo dessa pesquisa foi analisar o processo de mediação dos professores de apoio de alunos autistas sob o olhar da teoria da mediação em Vygotsky. Essa pesquisa é qualitativa e exploratória e foi realizada com duas professoras de apoio através de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Após a coleta dos dados, foi realizada a transcrição das entrevistas e a análise dos dados a partir dos critérios de medição de Vygotsky. Nos dados coletados foi observado elementos condizentes com o conceito de mediação (instrumentos e signos). Os signos e instrumentos que as professoras de apoio de alunos autistas utilizam durante seu processo de mediação, são a linguagem oral, os colegas de classe, materiais didáticos e o ambiente da biblioteca. Percebemos a relevância de ampliar os conhecimentos sobre os conceitos de mediação de Vygotsky para auxiliar na formação de professores e, principalmente, na aprendizagem de estudantes autistas.
