Ba x Sr 1-x Co 0.6 Fe 0.4 O 3-δ (0.2 ≤ x ≤ 0.8) synthesized by conventional solid state reaction method forms single phase solid solutions. The orthorhombic strontium cobaltite structure of host changes from orthorhombic to cubic with the increase in Ba mole fraction to x = 0.3, and again to orthorhombic for x = 0.4. For x ≥ 0.5, hexagonal barium cobaltite structure is obtained. All the samples with different compositions comprise of small particles and big agglomerates. The maximum electronic conductivity σ = 127.95 S cm −1 at 720 • C is found in case of Ba 0.5 Sr 0.5 Co 0.6 Fe 0.4 O 3-δ .
