Effect sizes were similar to meta-analytic findings on (a) forgiveness interventions and (b) reductions in psychiatric symptoms in DBT. Participant feedback suggested elements for further development. A randomized controlled trial is needed.
The National Mental Health Association (NMHA) in 1984 established the Commission on the Prevention of Mental-Emotional Disabilities to assess current knowledge about the prevention of mental-emotional disabilities, assess the application of that knowledge, and make recommendations for the future. In a report released earlier this year, the commission found a significant knowledge base and creditable but far from sufficient application of that knowledge. It made specific recommendations for action to federal and state governments, the NMHA, local agencies, schools, businesses, and the media.
