Die Kristallstruktur von Ag5−x Te3 wurde durch Einkristall‐Röntgenstrukturanalyse ermittelt. Die Struktur besitzt hexagonale Symmetrie (P62m, Nr. 189) mit a = 13,456(9) Å und c = 16,917(9) Å. Die Verbindung besteht aus beweglichen Silberkationen, die in einem Tellur‐Gerüst von Frank‐Kasper‐Polyedern verteilt sind. Tellur liegt als Te2− und als Te22−‐Hantel vor und bildet drei verschiedene Arten von Tetraederlücken. Die Verteilung des Silbers auf die Tetraederlücken wird beschrieben. Daraus resultieren Vorschläge für mögliche Diffusionspfade. Schließlich wird der Homogenitätsbereich von Ag5−xTe3 aus der Struktur hergeleitet.
