Oyun oynamak her yaştan insanın temel isteklerinden birisidir. İnsanlığın varlığı kadar eski olduğu varsayılan oyun, tüm kültür ve medeniyetlerde bulunmaktadır (Adanır, 2016). Oyunlar çocukların işidir. Çocukların işi olan oyunlar, uzun bir zaman boyunca yetişkin bireyler tarafından eğlenmek ve zaman kaybı olarak görülmüştür. Bilhassa oyunlar, mükemmel bir öğrenme ortamı sunmaktadır (Aral, 2000;Tuğrul, 2013). Oyun tanımlamaları ile ilgili birçok fikir ortaya atılmıştır. Bu tanımlamaların ortak noktaları, oyunların çocukların yaşamlarındaki en değerli ve önemli bir uğraş olmasıdır (Hacıosmanoğlu, 2007). Oyunlar çocukların temel ihtiyaçları (beslenme, bakım, uyku vb.) gibidir.Oyun, çocuk ve yetişkin bireylerin arzulayarak yapmış olduğu, kuralların ya da kuralların olmadığı, bir hedef doğrultusunda olan veya hedef doğrultusunda olmayan, çocukların bütün gelişim gösterebileceği alanların temelini oluşturan öğrenim süreçlerindendir (Baykoç Dönmez, 1992). Freud çocukların zihinsel sağlıklarını "oynamak ve sevmek" olarak tanımlamaktadır. Çocuklar ile iletişim ve etkileşim kurmak en kolay oyun yolu ile olur (Tarhan ve Nurmedov, 2013). Schiller oyunu, "kişinin üst seviyedeki ideallerini ve hedeflerini gerçekleştirebileceğine imkan sağlayan" olarak tanımlar. Bireyler oyunlara eğilimli biri olarak dünyaya gelmektedir. Oyunlar, bireylerin gelişim göstermeleri için elzemdir ve oyun araç gereçlerin yerlerini farklı araç gereçler dolduramamaktadır. İlgi, öğrenmek ve hayal etmek, tecrübelerini oyunlarda yaşayan çocukların oyunları, yıllar içerisinde değişim göstermiştir. Günümüze bakıldığında sokakta oynanan oyunlar ve
