The asymmetric synthesis of cis-4,5-disubstituted oxazolidin-2-ones is described. Following a four step reaction sequence of a-alkylation, 1,2-addition with subsequent carbamate protection, cyclization and concluding with cleavage of the auxiliary the title compounds are obtained in moderate yields and in excellent diastereo-and enantiomeric excesses (de = 88 -> 96%, ee > 96%).
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
