New Contributions to the Theory of the Change of Resistance by Magnetic FieldsFor the calculation of the change of resistance by magnetic fields, for the first time we put forward an improved wave function that exactly describes the motion of an electron in the perpendicularly crossed uniform ~ and ~ fields. The effect of the periodical potential and the lattice vibrations has been taken into account as perturbation according to the Kubo method. The final result contains only observables and is free from any adjustable parameters. The influence of the lattice periodicity on the final result for strong magnetic fields is small in comparison with the effect of the vibrations, and a closed expression for the final result is obtained. The result shows a reasonably good agreement with the observed values for Cd at 78 ~ in range 200~300 kG.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
