The objective of this study is to reveal attitudes and motivations of 5th and 6th grade students toward reading and investigate their correlation with the level of comprehension, skill of reading comprehension, skill of reading arising from personal tendency, and skill of reading arising from school. The aim of this study is to determine the level of achievement goals and teacher engagement of Turkish teachers and the relationship between them if any. Accordingly, the study was conducted with Turkish teachers working in an eastern city and its districts and villages in the school year of 2017-2018. The data were collected using "3x2 Achievement Goal Questionnaire for Teachers" adapted into Turkish by Yerdelen and Padır (2017) and "Engaged Teachers Scale" developed by Yerdelen, Klassen and Durksen (2017). Sixty eight Turkish teachers participated in the study. According to the obtained results, it was determined that achievement goals and teacher engagement of Turkish teachers were moderate in general. In addition, it was found that the variable of gender did not show any significant difference and there were significant correlations between the achievement goals and teacher engagement. Finally, achievement goals was a predictor of teacher engagement; on the other hand, working year and type of school studied did not predict teacher engagement.
Speaking is one of the four basic skills of language; It is one of the most important needs for individuals to agree an deist in society. Of course, the acquisition and healty development of this skill sholud be emphasized. Because the individual is an asset that develops and changes at any time. Considering all these, the skill acquisition process should be eamined meticuolusly. It is an issue that needs to be emphasized about what the teacher candidates who will teach the language and skills and guide their students with these skills. The purpose of this study is to develop "The Speaking Attitude Scale" designed for teacher Candidates. The sample of the study, consist of 375 randomly selected prospective teachers studying at Kafkas University Dede Korkut Education Faculty. The data of the study were collected in 2019. 1 In the study, attention was paid to volunteerism. Firstly, an item pool was created and expert opinions were received. While developing the measurement tool, exploratory factor and confirmatory factor analysis were performed respectively. According to the analysis results, it was determined that the scale consisted of 14 items and subscale. This subscale was named as the "speaking attitude". Then, the internal consistency of the assessment instrument was calculated using Cronbach Alpha coefficient and it was found that the results obtained from the data set had considerably high reliability. Confirmatory factor analysis results also showed that the scale can be easily used in different study groups. The scale was considered valid and reliable in this sense. Speaking attitude scale; it is thought to contribute to the field as a current and new measurement tool.
