Abstract:The present study investigated the effects of glycyrrhizin (GRZ) on neuroinflammation and memory deficit in systemic lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated C57BL/6 mice. Varying doses of GRZ was orally administered (10, 30, or 50 mg/kg) once a day for 3 days before the LPS (3 mg/kg) injection. At 24 h after the LPS injection, GRZ significantly reduced TNF-α and IL-1β mRNA at doses of 30 and 50 mg/kg. COX-2 and iNOS protein expressions were significantly reduced by GRZ at doses of 30 and 50 mg/kg. In the Morris water maze test, GRZ (30 mg/kg) significantly prolonged the swimming time spent in the target and peri-target zones. GRZ also significantly increased the target heading and memory score numbers. In the hippocampal tissue, GRZ significantly reduced the up-regulated Iba1 protein expression and the average cell size of Iba1-expressing microglia induced by LPS. The results indicate that GRZ ameliorated the memory deficit induced by systemic LPS treatment and the effect of GRZ was found to be mediated through the inhibition of pro-inflammatory mediators and microglial activation in the brain tissue. This study supports that GRZ may be a putative therapeutic drug on neurodegenerative diseases associated with cognitive deficits and neuroinflammation such as Alzheimer's disease.
Nowadays, an open-market which provides sellers and consumers a cyber place for making a transaction over the Internet has emerged as a prevalent sales channel because of convenience and relatively low price it provides. However, there are few studies about CRM strategies based on VIP consumers for an open-market even though understanding VIP consumers' behaviors in open-markets is important to increase its revenue. Therefore, we propose CRM strategies targeted on VIP customers, obtained by analyzing the transaction data of VIP customers from an open-market using data mining techniques. To that end, we first defined the VIP customers in terms of recency, frequency and monetary (RFM) values. Then, we used data mining techniques to develop a model which best classifies and identifies influential factors customers into VIPs or non-VIPs. We also validate each of promotion types in the aspect of effectiveness and identify association rules among the types. Then, based on the findings from these experiments, we propose strategies from the perspectives of CRM dimensions for the open-market to thrive.
Under the flag of creative economy, Korea government is now releasing public data in order to develop or provide a range of services. In this paper, we develop a customized trip navigation system to recommend a trip itinerary based on integration of open government data and personal tourist data. The system uses case-based reasoning (CBR) to provide a personalized trip navigation service. The main difference between existing trip information systems and ours is that our system can offers a user-oriented information service. In addition, our system supports Turn-key style contents provision to maximize convenience. Our system can be a good example of the way in which open government data can be used to design a new service.
