Blended Learning (BL) creates a 'rich' educational environment with multiple technologyenabled communication forms in both face-to-face and online teaching. Students' characteristics are closely related to the learning effectiveness in the BL environment. Students' ability to direct themselves in learning and to utilise learning technologies can affect student learning effectiveness. This study examined the impacts of self-directed learning, technology readiness, and learning motivation on the three presences (social, teaching, cognitive) among students undertaking subjects in BL and non-BL (NBL) settings. The results indicated that the BL environment provides good facilitation for students' social involvement in the class. Student technology readiness plays a stronger role in impacting the teaching presence in a BL environment than NBL environment. These findings imply that a proper BL setting creates a cohesive community and enhances collaborations between students. Prior training of learning technologies can potentially enhance students' teaching presence.
This research is among the very few studies seeking a focalized examination on the relationship between knowledge sharing within a firm and organizational innovation. This specific study establishes that the knowledge sharing and innovation processes in Islamic banks are integral parts of the survival and progress of business organizations. Knowledge sharing and creativity are essential elements in the development of innovative strategies, but few studies have sought to investigate this relationship. This study proposes a framework with five hypotheses, which predicts the influences of knowledge sharing and organizational innovation on the Pakistani banking sector. This survey scrutinizes the impacts of knowledge sharing and innovation, and its primary objective is to determine how learning in Islamic banks mediates the relationship, and enhances the performance, of Pakistani Islamic banks. The authors distributed a self-administered survey, and randomly selected 554 employees from Mirpur AJ&K, Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan. We screened and tested the data received using SPSS version 25 for analysis purposes to measure the strength of the relationships which exist among the studied variables. The findings indicate that all of the proposed hypotheses have significant positive relationships, proving that knowledge sharing and organizational innovation have mediating impacts upon organizational learning. The findings can also be used to propose a systematic and holistic framework for attaining an improved performance in Islamic banks through the mediating role of organizational learning. This study offers empirical evidence and original data to examine the connection between knowledge sharing, innovation processes and learning culture in Islamic Banks. The generalizability of these findings is restricted to Islamic banks, and the study delivers valuable insights and suggestions for imminent research studies.
Purpose
This era is an era of social media (SM); thus, it is an essential tool for communication among individuals and organizations. The excessive use of SM by employees has raised many questions about their job performance. Therefore, there is a dire need to investigate the effects of SM use on an employee’s job performance mediated by knowledge exchange. Furthermore, the purpose of this paper is to examine how the organization’s SM rules can moderate the relationship between personal and work-related use of SM with information sharing and obtaining information.
Design/methodology/approach
Quantitative methodology was used and randomly 1,200 questionnaires data were collected physically from the employees of the public and private sectors in Pakistan. To examine the hypothesized relationships, partial least squares (PLS), rather than covariance-based structural equation modeling, was used to analyze the data. For this reason, multivariate technique, Smart PLS-3.2.1, was used for data analysis.
Findings
The findings of this study demonstrated that personal and work-related use of SM could enhance employees’ job performance through knowledge exchange, and SM rules have adverse impacts on the relationships between SM use and knowledge exchange.
Originality/value
This study provides a novel model for the investigation of whether SM use affects employees’ job performance. Furthermore, it will help the policy makers and researchers regarding the management of SM use at work.
E-commerce offers an opportunity on web renounced in internet marketing, and the consumers' communication behavior has changed, which has taken the place of word of mouth (WOM). This study investigated consumers' motivational involvement in electronic word of mouth for online information adoption mediated by writers, motivations. Using a sample of 390 active Chinese internet users, it revealed that social tie and perceived risk are essential factors that influence consumers' behavior, occur unpleasant consequences, and the possibility of uncertainties during the decision making process. Online retailers should emphasize perceived risk mitigation enable to provide a quick response on the websites. Practitioners need to understand consumer behavior in the online shopping system for the expansion of the online marketplace to product varieties, online advertising, retail strategies, and market segmentation. Organizations should train their service provides to timely response, concentrate on monitoring the aspects of consumers' reviews, on creating choices among groups and individuals, which can improve the organization's business performance.
Inspired by the phenomenon of symbiosis in natural ecosystem, a master-slave mode is incorporated into Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and a Multi-population Cooperative Optimization (MCPSO) is thus presented. In MCPSO, the population consists of one master swarm and several slave swarms. The slave swarms execute PSO (or its variants) independently to maintain the diversity of particles, while the master swarm enhances its particles based on its own knowledge and also the knowledge of the particles in the slave swarms. In the simulation part, several benchmark functions are performed, and the performance of the proposed algorithm is compared to the standard PSO (SPSO) to demonstrate its efficiency.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
