In 1989, yellow perch composed 45 percent of the catch, followed by pumpkinseed (17%) largemouth bass (9%), tenth (8%), mountain whitefish (6%), largescale sucker (5%), and northern squawfish (4%). Trout were rare during both 1988 and 1989, with brown trout being the most abundant at 0.6 and 0.7 percent of the total catch, respectively.Population estimates in the 90 km long 'Box Canyon Reservoir were made using the Schnabel multiple mark and recapture technique.
