Jirak Sub Watershed is one of the resurgence river in Gunungkidul. This river flow into Kalisuci Cave, and becomes an underground river. This underground river is used for tourism activities known as CaveTubing. The main problem of this tourism activities is frequent flood events. This flood comes from input discharge originating from Jirak River as the upstream of Kalisuci Cave. This research aim is to determine the hydrological characteristics of Jirak Sub Watershed in Kalisuci Cave Tourism area with the hope in increasing the understanding of the tourism operators regarding regulation of the flood early warning and evacuation systems. Hydrological characteristics were determined from the discharge rating curve, time lag (Tlag) and effective rainfall (Pe) calculation. The result of this research shows that the time lag between the rain occurrence and early flood occurrence at Jirak Sub Watershed ranged from 2,5 to 3 hours. Fast response of peak discharge indicates that Jirak Sub Watershed has a fast response drainage system to rainfall in rainy season. The effective rainfall percentage was determined from the 17 selected flood hydrograph which the value increased from the early phase until the end of rainy season. This hydrological characteristic of Jirak Sub Watershed can be used by Kalisuci Cave tourism management team as flood early warning and evacuation system.
