to evaluate the effect of different non-chemical weed management practices on physical and cooking parameters of organic rice (CO (R) 50). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replication and ten treatments. The physical parameters like kernel length values varied from 5.86 to 6.10 mm, kernel breadth varied from 2.03 to 2.11 mm, L/B ratio varied from 2.77 to 2.94 and cooking parameters like kernel length after cooking (KLAC) values ranging from 9.60 to 10.80 mm, kernel breadth after cooking (KBAC) ranging from 2.80 to 3.42 mm, linear elongation ratio (LER) ranging from 1.64 to 1.78, breadth wise elongation ratio (BER) ranging from 1.00 to 1.19, water absorption ratio ranging from 3.05 to 3.81 and volume expansion ratio ranging from 2.50 to 3.40. From this experiment mulching with biodegradable polythene sheet recorded the highest grain yield (5557 kg ha-1) and quality parameters like kernel length, kernel length after cooking, kernel breadth after cooking, water absorption ratio and volume expansion ratio. But among different non-chemical weed management practices benefit cost ratio was found to be highest in Hand weeding on 15 DAT followed by Azolla inoculation.
SUMMARY :The field experiment on soybean grown on Inceptisol was laid out in a Randomized Block Design with the nine treatments and three replications at Central Research Farm of Post Graduate Institute, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri -413 722 Dist -Ahmednagar during Kharif 2012. The results revealed that, the growth parameters viz., root nodule counts (19) were observed in treatment T 6 (application of 50:75:25 kg ha -1 in two splits-50% N,P 2 O 5 and K 2 O at sowing and 30 DAS)which was at par with treatment T 7 .The treatment T 7 (application of 50:75:50 kg ha -1 in two splits-50% N,P 2 O 5 and K 2 O at sowing and 30 DAS) were recorded the highest number of pods per plants (51.73), grain yield (34.53 q ha -1 ) and stover yield (44.04 q ha -1 ) which was at par with treatment T 6 . The total uptake of NPK by soybean and available of nutrient in soil were significantly influenced by the split application of NPK and maximum total uptake and available of NPK in soil at harvest was observed in the treatment T 7 and it was at par with treatment T 6 . Thus, application of 50:75:25 kg NPK ha -1 in two splits -50% NPK at sowing and 50% NPK at 30 DAS was proved to be profitable for soybean cultivation on Inceptisol.How to cite this article : Rathod, B.G., Patil, S.R. and Sable, P.P. with a view to find out the soil properties of sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench]-wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) crop sequence as affected by long term integrated nutrient management. The long term impact of integrated nutrient management on soil properties were studied after 32 nd cycle (2015-16). The treatment comprised different levels of recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF) viz., 50, 75, 100% RDF in combination with and without farm yardmanure, wheat straw and green manure. The results indicated that, among the chemical properties soil pH and the electrical conductivity was recorded non-significant. The highest organic carbon percentage was observedin treatment receiving chemical fertilizers along with FYM. It was significantly improved (0.71, 0.69%) with the application of 50% NPK + 50% N through FYM (T 6) and lowest value (0.44, 0.41%) was observed in absolute control.The influence on soil properties ultimately reflected in higher yield of sorghum and wheat in the same treatment. It is also observed that the soil propertieswere significantly correlated with yield. Hence, it can be concluded that the use of 50% NPK + 50% N through FYM is imperative for sustainable productivity and maintenance of soil fertility.
