Objetivo: Explanar os aspectos epidemiológicos de óbitos relacionados à doença de Chagas, as leishmanioses e a esquistossomose na população geriátrica brasileira. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico, ecológico, de desenho misto, incluindo a descrição de tendência temporal e padrões espaciais da mortalidade por doença de Chagas (DC), leishmanioses (LS) e esquistossomose (EQ) no Brasil entre os anos de 2000 e 2021. Foram analisadas informações das declarações de óbitos disponíveis no Sistema de Informações sobre Mortalidade (SIM). A coleta de dados foi realizada entre janeiro e março de 2023. Foram extraídos os números brutos de óbitos por ano, variáveis sociodemográficas (sexo, raça, escolaridade, faixa etária detalhada e estado civil), instituição em que ocorreu o óbito e distribuição geográfica. Resultados: Foram registrados 80.435 óbitos na população idosa brasileira. A doença de Chagas foi a mais prevalente (89.24%), seguida pela esquistossomose (8.63%) e leishmanioses (2.12%). A DC foi a causa de óbito mais prevalente na região Sudeste, e LC e EQ na região Nordeste. Os óbitos foram provenientes de indivíduos com baixa escolaridade e em situação conjugal. O sexo masculino foi o mais afetado pela DC e LC, e o sexo feminino na EQ. Em relação à cor/raça, a DC acometeu mais pessoas brancas, enquanto nas demais doenças em pessoas pardas. Sobre a faixa etária, as vítimas estavam entre 60 e 69 anos, com exceção da DC que vitimou indivíduos entre 70 e 79 anos. Quase 100% dos óbitos aconteceram em hospitais. Conclusão: É notória a preocupante incidência de óbitos na população de idosos, devido às complicações causadas pelas doenças estudadas. Compreender os padrões epidemiológicos dessas doenças é de suma importância para orientar políticas públicas de saúde, buscando o desenvolvimento de estratégias de prevenção e intervenção específicas, voltadas para essa população vulnerável.
O estudo objetiva avaliar a conduta expectante em comparação com a cerclagem de emergência para o tratamento de incompetência istmocervical. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura realizada através das bases de dados Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) e Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), através dos seguintes Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS): “conduta expectante” e “cerclagem cervical”. Combinados entre si pelo operador booleano AND. Como critérios de inclusão: artigos disponíveis na íntegra, nos idiomas português, espanhol e inglês, que abordassem a temática, nos últimos dez anos (2012-2022). Como critérios de exclusão: artigos que não contemplavam o tema e estudos repetidos nas bases de dados. Foram encontrados 12 artigos, após a busca combinada de descritores e operadores boleandos foram selecionados 6 artigos para compor a amostra final, conforme demonstrado no quadro abaixo. A análise da incompetência cervical é baseada principalmente no histórico médico e pode ser realizada antes ou durante a gravidez. A cerclagem de emergência é realizada no mesmo período de dilatação do colo uterino, devendo a terapia para IIC ser encerrada preferencialmente até a 14ª semana de gestação, quando ainda não houve ajustes cervicais e o tempo em que ocorrem os abortos precoces já foi passado.
